The wheels are beginning to turn at Peterhead with Balmoor boss Jim McInally given the green light to start his recruitment for the new season.
McInally has been unwilling to enter into any discussions with his existing squad or any new recruits until a budget was agreed with chairman Rodger Morrison however with the start of the new season confirmed with Betfred Cup ties in early October Scotland’s longest serving manager has opened his contacts book.
The Peterhead chief said: “I have not been speaking to anyone about next season as I did not want to be in a position where I have provided one figure for wages to a player that we could not fulfil. That would not be fair on anyone however as a club we are getting closer and closer to getting things finalised.”
“The Chairman has now said that I should go and look to sign my top targets so discussions have started. I am keen to bring in a defender and a striker so whilst nothing is imminent talks have begun which is good news for everyone connected at Peterhead.”
