Peterhead manager Jim McInally and Blue Toon player Jamie Stevenson have gone their separate ways more than 14 years after they first got together.
The now 36-year-old Stevenson joined Alloa in 2001 after being released by Aberdeen however he was spotted playing football on a beach in Majorca in 2003 and was offered a three-year contract with Spanish outfit Real Mallorca.
Stevenson played for a season on the sunshine island with their B team before returning to the Wasps where his form over the next two years earned him a return to full time football when McInally signed him for Morton.
In January 2009 Stevenson joined McInally at his new club at East Stirling where the duo stayed together for 18 months before the midfielder had stints at Airdrie and Cowdenbeath.
A reunion took place at Peterhead in the summer of 2014 with Stevenson going on to play in 220 games under McInally’s management at Balmoor however he will not be returning to the Blue Toon for the new campaign.
McInally said: “Jamie has been a terrific player for me at three different clubs. I must have managed him in over 300 games in total so you could easily say I am a fan of his.”
“He has been a great servant to Peterhead however we have agreed that he will leave us now. Of course, I wish him well in whatever he does next.”
