Peterhead have made their first signing of the summer with Dumbarton’s top goalscorer from last season, Isaac Layne, joining the Balmoor men after Blue Toon manager Jim McInally remembered him being an ‘absolute pest’ last season.
The former Alloa, Brechin City and Stranraer front-man Layne netted nine times in his first campaign since returning from a knee injury after nine months out and McInally convinced the 25 year old to head north as he explained: “When I was looking about for a new striker I looked at who had been good against us last season. Isaac was an absolute pest in his games against us so I put him at the top of my list.”
“We have held talks and he has agreed to move to Peterhead.”
