Peterhead boss Jim McInally has given released Celtic youngster Dave McKay a chance to get back into the game with the 19-year-old joining the Blue Toon on trial.
Left back McKay, who was with the Parkhead club since he was aged 8, spent part of last season on-loan at Lowland League side BSC Glasgow and played against Hibs in a Scottish Cup tie as well as 12 league outings.
McKay was let go by the Premiership giants this summer and was recommended to McInally by former Celtic youth coach Mick Murphy who now scouts for Peterhead, with the Balmoor boss saying: “Despite his disappointment at leaving a huge club Dave wants to make it as a senior player. Mick has recommended him to me and that aligned with the fact that he has experience at a good level means that he is worth a look at.”
“He will come and train with us and have the chance to secure a contract during our five pre-season games.”
