Balmoor manager Jim McInally was pleased with the performances of new boys Kieran Freeman and Kyle Bailey in Saturday’s 3-0 Friendly win over Inverurie Locos Works at Harlaw Park.
Ben Armour, Scott Brown and Alan Cook got the goals however seeing the improvement in his side defensively was just as pleasing to Jim who said: “Kieran has a touch of class about him and he brought a lot of energy to the side. We were under pressure at times from Locos and it was good to see Kyle remain calm when those situations arose.”
Summer signing Gary Mackenzie got 45 minutes under his belt and the inclusion of the former St Mirren player allowed the Blue Toon to experiment with formations as Jim explained: “Having three new players allowed us to play a 3-5-2 in the first half. Gary has not played for several months so we were never going to give him the full game so when he came off at half-time we switched to a back four.”
“Kieran and Kyle played well in both formations so it is good to know that can change things around when we need to.”
