Peterhead have agreed terms with goalkeeper Joshua Rae after the former Hamilton Accies, Celtic and Leeds United shot-stopper impressed manager Jim McInally as a trialist.
The 19 year old, who turned out for Queen’s Park and Edinburgh City last season as a trialist, before having a three month stint at Cowdenbeath started his career at the Accies and was just 13-year-old when he played for them in a reserve game in 2014.
The shot-stopper’s form as a youngster earned him a trial with Spanish giants Athletico Madrid and then a move to Celtic where he stayed until 2017 when he joined Leeds and he starred for their under-23 side before leaving last summer.
Rae played for the Blue Toon in their 6-0 success over Dundee North End with manager McInally saying: “Josh came to us early in pre-season however he had an opportunity with a full-time club in England that he wanted to pursue which he was quite right to do.”
“That never worked out and he came back in last weekend and did well against North End. He will provide real competition to Lenny Wilson for a starting jersey and Lenny will provide real competition to him.”
