Dundee United 0
Peterhead manager Jim McInally thanked his players for how they went about their work in their 1-0 win over Premiership Dundee United at Tannadice.
Steven Boyd’s goal just after half-time won the three points in the Betfred Cup encounter with Jim saying: “The players deserved that win. Everybody played their part and they carried out the jobs they were asked to do really well.”
“I told them that if they all did their jobs that they would have earned the right to play and that is what happened.”
“We created chances in the first half and kept on going despite losing a couple of players to injury. In the opening few minutes of the second half we were playing some great football but it was beginning to look like we would not score. Thankfully Andrew McCarthy came up with a great cross and Steven Boyd came up with a tidy finish.”
“We had a couple of dangerous situations to deal with and we handled them because everybody went about things correctly. It was a team effort and I include the boys in the bench in that. We had really experienced players in Gary Mackenzie and Derek Lyle there and, despite their disappointment at not playing, they were encouraging their team-mates through it.”
“That encouragement and selflessness are great attributes to have.”
