Jim is no kill-joy however…

Peterhead manager Jim McInally has told his players to be proud of their performances in Saturday’s 1-0 Betfred Cup win over Dundee United at Tannadice however to ensure that they do not lose their focus on Brechin City’s visit on Tuesday.

Jim said: “We played well and deserved to beat a Premiership team. The players should be proud of that and it was great to see them leaving on Saturday with smiles on their faces. It is a great result for our club however it is a result that brings a touch of added responsibility.”

“By that I mean our aspirations for the Betfred Cup have changed. Before the game very few people would have given us a chance of getting through the Group stages either by winning the group or as a best runner-up but now we have a chance if we keep going about things in the same manner as we did on Saturday.”

“The Brechin game now has an extra edge to it as we can make it six points from six before the tournament takes a short break. Doing that would give us an extra level of motivation for it coming back in November.”

Jim added: “We have shown what we can do in a one-off game, we now need to show what we can do that consistently.”
