Peterhead could be excused for going into their game tonight with Brechin ‘care-free’ after their stunning 1-0 success at Premiership Dundee United on Saturday however manager Jim McInally is at pains to point out that Saturday’s win has made the match against the Glebe Park side a ‘big one’.
Jim explained: “The players did brilliantly at the weekend and the only disappointment I have is that their performance never got the credit it merited from certain places. They deserved their win against a full-time side and I am pleased that we have got our season off to a great start.”
“We now go into a home game, against a Brechin team who are a league below us and who lost 7-0 at the weekend. It is a huge banana skin for us if we do not go about things in the same manner that we did on Saturday. Brechin will be hurt by what happened at the weekend and if we are slack at all they will punish us.”
“Make no mistake this is a big game for us on and off the park. Win it and we give ourselves a chance of progressing to the next stages or at least higher up the 5 team table than many thought we would. In a season where every pound is going to be be a prisoner earning extra income through our efforts on the park could have a really positive impact on the club.”
Peterhead striker Isaac Layne has bounced back from injury he picked up at Dundee United however on-loan Dundee wing back Josh Mulligan will miss out.
On-loan Dundee United defender Kieran Freeman is available after not being allowed to feature against his parent club at the weekend.
The game will be streamed live @ https://peterheadfc.univtec.com/home – either by use of your season ticket or on a pay per view basis costing £10.
