Transfer Window closes quietly at Balmoor

Feb 2, 2021

The January 31 Transfer Window closed quietly yesterday with no business in or out at Balmoor. Blue Toon Manager Jim McInally had done business earlier in the month when he recruited Jordon Brown from Cove Rangers and Andrew MacDonald from Elgin City with Niah Payne joining from English non-league football.

On-loan Kieran Freeman has returned to Dundee United and Lyall Cameron who was at the club on a similar basis from Dundee has been recalled by the Dark Blues. Hashim Bakar was released with goalkeeper Joshua Rae joining Queen of the South last week on an Emergency Seven Day loan which could well be extended on a rolling basis until the suspension on League 1 football is lifted.

Jim said: “The January 31 date is a bit of a false one as clubs in League 1 and 2 can still do loan deals in normal circumstances for another month so I was not getting over excited by it. I am pleased that I got some business done before the suspension was imposed as the three new players will help us once the league resumes.”

“There may also be the chance to get loan players then and I would like to bring Kieran and Lyall back however that will depend on how they are doing at their parent clubs.”
