Peterhead return to action this weekend when they host Airdrie with manager Jim McInally facing a selection headache as eight players could miss out.
Simon Ferry and Steven Boyd were dismissed in the Blue Toon’s last outing at Cove Rangers on January 2 and will serve bans against the Diamonds with new recruit Andy MacDonald also suspended for misdemeanours at his last club Elgin City.
Alan Cook and Ben Armour picked up injuries in training this week and have been ruled out, one-time Scotland squad defender Gary MacKenzie announced his retirement from the game last Sunday and on-loan Dundee midfielder Josh Mulligan is still not back from the ankle problem that has ruled him out since October.
The move to bring Dens Park youngster Lyall Cameron back on loan has stalled leaving McInally with a threadbare squad with the Balmoor boss saying: “The first half of the season saw me having to patch-up the team on a regular basis and it looks like the second half will be as well.”
“It is not the way I wanted to kick-off our return especially against a full-time side, but we will still be able to put out a competitive side on the pitch and russell up a couple of substitutes.”
