East Fife v Peterhead – Match Preview – We are looking up (and down)

Apr 17, 2021

Peterhead will look to continue the uncertainly over which half of the table they will play in come next week’s spilt by defeating hosts East Fife today. The game kicks off at noon with the Blue Toon side knowing that a win could see them in the top five whereas a defeat will confirm a place in the bottom five before the final game of the 18 against Falkirk.

Manager Jim McInally said: “Until it is proven that we cannot make it then we will be looking to make it into the top half.  Winning this game would keep us interested in the top half until the final game before the split and that would be a good position to be in.”

“However, this league is so tight we are still looking down as well and Dumbarton winning at Clyde on Thursday has really brought that into focus. We are away to enter into a chaotic period and no matter whether it is the top five or bottom five who will finish in what position is going down to the wire.”

Jim added: “East Fife are a good side and that is not a surprise as they have a good squad and they also have a top half target to go for. Montrose dropping points to Airdrie at the weekend and then losing 5-0 at Partick Thistle on Thursday will have given them a lift and we need to guard against that.”

“The last time we played them we secured a terrific 2-1 win thanks to a thumping Scott Brown goal. We had to defend resolutely that day as Gary Fraser was sent off incorrectly. We will need to defend resolutely again but hopefully that will be defending a lead again.”
