Peterhead v Clyde – Match Preview

Apr 24, 2021

Peterhead kick off the first of their four post-split fixtures with a home match against Clyde with securing safety on the mind of Blue Toon manager Jim McInally.

A well-deserved 1-0 win over Falkirk on Tuesday night was the perfect way for Peterhead to end the 18 game part of the season and it also opened up a 12 point gap on bottom side Forfar and a four point advantage on Dumbarton who presently sit in the play-off place.

Clyde come into the game after a 3-1 success at Forfar’s Station Park with Jim adamant that both sides will be going out for the win that brings League 1 football again next season into closer sight, however there will also be an element of caution in Peterhead’s play.

Jim said: “Like us Clyde will be feeling good about themselves as they had a good win in midweek and, like us, they will be looking to build on it. We know that a win will ensure that we cannot be overtaken by Forfar however that is only one part of the danger we face.”

“Clyde will be looking to pull level with us and keep a gap between themselves, Dumbarton and Forfar so both teams know that a win eases some pressure. In saying that I will not be sending the players out to go gung-ho, I will be looking for us to be a bit more disciplined than we were in the game that Clyde won at Balmoor 2-0 at the end of last month.”

“We played well for most of that game but we opened up too much when the game was goalless and Clyde took full advantage. We will look to attack them but not leave the gaps we had that night as we looked to turn possession into goals and started chasing things.”

“We did not have a cutting edge in that game but I believe that we have shown that we have grown more dangerous since that game. We have had defenders and midfielders chipping in with goals recently and that is very pleasing.”
