Match Preview – Peterhead v Forfar

May 1, 2021

Peterhead may have secured safety when they clocked up a hat-trick of wins by seeing off East Fife 2-1 on Thursday night however the Blue Toon’s season is far from over.

After defeating Falkirk, Clyde and the Fifers manager Jim McInally wants his side to add another success to that list when they host Forfar this afternoon.

The Loons are at the foot of the table and are perilously close to relegation however they will arrive at Balmoor with a spring in their step with Jim saying: “Forfar’s win over Clyde on Thursday night will have given them a huge boost especially as they scored the winner in injury time. This game will not come quickly enough for them however we have plenty of reasons to want to win as well.”

“We have won three in a row and I am not sure the last time we did that. I have no idea when we last one four in a row so it would be good to do that and we also have a couple of scores to settle with Forfar from the games this season.”

“They won 1-0 at our place in the first meeting of the season in a game that we dominated and then once we resumed playing, we were one up at Station Park with a penalty and only a few minutes to play.”

“We missed the penalty and Forfar equalised really late and those two dropped points looked to be crucial for a while just before and after the split.”

As for picking his side to face Forfar Jim added: “I am in the fortunate position of having competition for nearly every place in the team. We changed things about at East Fife and everyone contributed really well to a fine win.”

“We could also finish in six place and the team I select will be one I believe will pick up three points as we try and do that.”
