Thank you to our loan players

Peterhead manager Jim McInally has said goodbye to four loan players now that the season has ended with Danny Strachan, Kieran Freeman. Kieran McGrath and Hamish Ritchie returning to Dundee, Dundee United, East Kilbride and Inverurie Locos respectively.

Jim reckons that playing and scoring for his local team will be something that Danny will remember for a long time as the Balmoor boss explained: “Danny came in once we were allowed to play football again following the January shut-down and he became established at right back during his eight appearances.”

“He scored a good goal in a win at East Fife and he can always tell people in Peterhead about that. Hopefully that experience as well as the other minutes in senior football that he played will stand him in good stead at Dundee.”

“Our thanks go to Dundee for loaning us Danny as well as Lyall Cameron who did so well for us in the first half of the season.”

The versatile Freeman played all over Peterhead’s defence and in a holding midfield role during his 26 outings with Jim saying: “Kieran’s move was the original win-win situation. We had the use of a talented youngster who was extremely committed to us when he was playing on the park and was willing to show his worth in a number of positions and Kieran won as he got over 2000 minutes of senior football under his belt.”

“He returns to Dundee United a more experienced player than when he joined us in October.”

Striker McGrath came in from Lowland League East Kilbride to help with the glut of fixtures at the end of the season and Jim hopes that he has benefitted from the time with his team as he explained: “Kieran had hardly played all season so it was difficult for him to get established. However he worked hard in training and was a very useful substitute for us as he can be a real handful for defences.”

“Hopefully he will get a chance at East Kilbride next season and we will keep an eye on him.”

Finally Hamish Ritchie has returned to Inverurie Locos with Jim saying: “Everyone knows how well Hamish played here and fingers crossed we will get him back at some stage of his career.”
