Goalkeeper Lenny Wilson has become the latest Blue Toon player to confirm that he will be returning for the new season (the clue was in yesterday’s news about Jason Brown)
Lenny joined the Balmoor club in the summer of 2019 and had to be patient to make his debut due to the form of Greg Fleming during the shortened 2019/ 20 season.
The first start arrived last autumn at New Central Park when Lenny faced up to Kelty Hearts in a Betfred Cup game that was a 1-1 draw with Peterhead picking up an extra point in a 5-3 penalty kick success.
The shot-stopper played against eventual winners St Johnstone in the final Group game where he was beaten by two Stevie May penalties as well as a Chris Kane shot in a 3-1 defeat.
Lenny’s first League 1 start came against Falkirk last month and he kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 win with his goal also kept intact as Clyde were seen off 3-0 four days later.
Further appearances followed against East Fife and Dumbarton with manager Jim McInally saying: “Lenny deserved a chance to start as his standard in training with our goalkeeper coach Jim Butter was really good. He came in and showed what he could do especially in terms of helping his defence through his organisation and positional skills.”
“I was pleased when Lenny got in touch to stay he was staying. He is building a platform to have a good career at Peterhead.”
