Peterhead manager Jim McInally was pleased that his players got a game under their belt against Inverurie Locos and that there were no reports of injuries afterwards.
Goals from Derek Lyle and a trialist defender handed the Blue Toon a 2-1 win with Jim saying: “The game was not played at Harlaw Park but on an adjacent pitch. The surface was a difficult one as it was very fiery and bumpy so there was a concern over someone picking up a knock however everyone came through it well.”
“A lot of players got minutes under their belts and that was important. Some will feature against Turriff on Sunday afternoon as we look to be as competitive as possible for our first game of the season against Hearts.
“We scored in the first half through Derek who put in a great turn and shot however Locos equalised after the break. We got a bit of a break of the ball before Derek’s goal and they got something similar as they hit us on the counter-attack.”
“We got the winner when a trialist who had come on at the back volleyed in.”
Jim added: “We are quite a young side so it was important to get a good workout and we did that.”
