Peterhead 4 Broughty Athletic 3
Peterhead wrapped up their preparations for the new season with a 4-3 win over Broughty Athletic however it came at a price with a number of players picking up knocks that could rule them out of Saturday’s opener against Hearts.
Paul Sludden opened the scoring with a fine strike for Broughty on 7 minutes however Scott Brown found the top corner with a fierce shot on 28 minutes to level.
Brad Smith edged Broughty ahead at the start of the second half with the Blue Toon replying quickly with a goal from a trialist defender. Jim McInally’s side took a 3-2 lead on 65 minutes when Jordon Brown thumped home directly from a free-kick however the Whitton Park levelled 4 minutes from the end thanks to another fine goal from Sludden.
Peterhead came up with a winner when a midfield trialist curled home in injury time with Jim saying: “The game was full of great goals however our performance was not at a level I was happy with. We have also picked up a number of injuries which are giving us some concern so I cannot even think about a team to face Hearts just now.”
