Peterhead manager Jim McInally says he will use seeing his side written off as relegation favourites to inspire the Blue Toon.

The Balmoor side kick start their cinch League One season at home to Alloa Athletic on Saturday and McInally has vowed to prove the doubters wrong as he explained : “I have seen various pieces since the start of the week and they all seem to think we are the favourites for relegation.”

“It is something we will discuss with the players as no one enjoys being written off.  It is a nice piece of extra motivation for us ahead of facing Alloa and for the rest of the season.”

“We will be extra determined to prove a lot of people wrong.”

McInally believes Peterhead’s fitness could prove pivotal ahead of the big kick off and added: “When you look at some of the signings other clubs have made, they have good experience in their teams whilst we are a bit on the young side.”

“It is going to therefore be important that we use the good legs we have in our squad to get about the park. I also think we have good quality in amongst our group so we will look to get plenty of points on board.”
