Montrose v Peterhead
Manager’s preview –
Peterhead manager Jim McInally believes that the Blue Toon will need to overcome the ‘best’ team in League 1 when they face Montrose at Links Park tonight.
Jim explained: “Montrose are a good team in a footballing sense but they are a formidable team in terms of the way they work and play for each other. They are the best team we have faced in the league this season in terms of knowing each other’s game inside out and backing each other up.”

“It has not happened over night as their manager Stewart Petrie has developed that togetherness during his time there. When you consider when he went in a few years ago, they were struggling in League 2, and now they are candidates for the Championship, with a lot of the same squad.”
“They have not recruited a lot of new faces but when someone comes in, they are schooled very quickly in what makes Montrose successful. They have been playing at a consistently high standard for a number of years however we are not just going there to make up the numbers.”
“We believe that we are improving and we have built up some confidence and resilience in our team in the back of some good performances. These attributes will be tested but there is no reason why we cannot go there and enjoy ourselves.”

Team news –
Peterhead will be at least seven players down as Ryan Conroy, Alan Cook, Ryan Duncan, Simon Ferry, Gary Fraser, Andrew McCarthy and David Wilson remain out with injuries. Manager McInally has delayed picking his side as Danny Strachan, Josh Mulligan and Lyall Cameron were involved in a game for their parent club Dundee on Monday night and will require their fitness to be fully assessed.
