‘It would be good to get ahead’ Manager’s preview East Fife v Peterhead

Jan 29, 2022

Peterhead go looking for their first win over East Fife this season in what is the fourth meeting between the clubs. Whilst many could argue that the Blue Toon have not had their fair share of luck in the two defeats and the one draw with the Fifers Balmoor manager Jim McInally is not for holding that line.

Jim said: “I am not putting anything down to luck, all I would say is that if we converted the chances we created into goals at a higher rate than the results in the games against East Fife would have been different. All of the games have followed the same pattern in that we play well, create openings, do not take them and then fall behind and have to chase the game.”

“The last time we played at their place we lost 3-0, but I still class our display that day as being in our top three of the season. the only thing that was missing was goals. Not only would it be good to score if we are on top in this game, it would be great to score first and give East Fife something to think about.”

“They might well feel that if they score first well then they will not lose. We need to do our best to ensure they do not get that comfortable.”

Jim added: “We had East Fife watched last week and they played well against Falkirk. They have plenty of spirit in their team and are fighting for everything so we need to match that. We have added Rico Quitongo and Owen Cairns this week and there is the possibility of bringing in one more new face so there is a freshness about the squad.”

“I have choices to make which is good and I am looking forward to seeing us going out and being on the front foot.”
