Peterhead host Falkirk at Balmoor this afternoon with both sides out to claim the three points but for different reasons. The hosts want the win to avoid issues at the bottom of the table whereas the visitors need a success to get closer involved to issues at the top of the table.
Blue Toon manager Jim McInally knows that his side will more than match the desire of their full-time opponents in terms of winning he knows that they will need to be just as sharp as them as well.
Jim explained: “Falkirk are desperate to be in the promotion play-offs and will be looking to build on their win at Dumbarton last weekend to start a real push for a top four place in the closing weeks.”
“They took the game to Dumbarton early and were a couple of goals ahead before the break. They are a fit side as you expect from a full-time outfit, but as well as that, they like to do everything at pace.”
“By that I mean they take quick free-kicks and throw ins and we need to be on our toes from the kick-off to handle that.”
“We have to match the sharp way they want to play and they look to impose ourselves on the game. If you look at the game at their place last month, they had a couple of early chances created by pace and we came through that before taking the lead.”
“Unfortunately, they equalised before half-time from a set-piece but it the second half we had the chances to win. If we could get another performance like that, and add a winning goal, then everyone would be delighted.”
“We still need to put more points on board to be safe and the sooner we can do that the better.”

Team news – Peterhead will be without on-loan Aberdeen youngster Ryan Duncan as he is Scotland under-19 duty in Hungary. Russell McLean has joined David Wilson on the side-lines due to a knee problem with Andy McDonald and Hamish Ritchie set for fitness tests ahead of kick-off.
Andrew McCarthy serves the second game of his two-game ban suspension however player/coach Simon Ferry and the experienced Ryan Conroy could return after a back injury and illness respectively.
