A Peterhead XI will take on an Academy side from England tomorrow night in a closed door friendly with manager Jim McInally using the game to look at potential new recruits as well as seeing two new signings run out in Blue Toon colours.
Jim said: “Our signed players have been in training for a couple of weeks now but this will be our first warm up match ahead of the new season. The Academy side we are facing is made up of players looking to get a break in senior football and has been organised by an agent who has helped us in the past.”
“It is a win-win situation as our players get game time and their players get the chance to show what they can do. We have a big rebuilding job on our hands and I am going down old routes and new ones, such as this, to try and get the right quality of player in.”
That rebuilding job will be made easier with the recruitment of two new players who are set to complete moves to Peterhead tomorrow with Jim saying: “One of the moves is the one I talked about last month in terms of having a deal agreed with a senior player. There was a slight injury issue and we decided to hold off naming him until it was cleared up. Hopefully we will get it over the line on Wednesday night.”
“We have also agreed a deal with an attack minded player who was in demand from a number of clubs. He trained with our squad recently and liked what he saw so he has agreed to come here. Again we will look to get the paperwork done and dusted and then announce his signing.”
