Welcome to Peterhead

Peterhead have added to their squad by recruiting striker Ola Adeyemo, who was part of the squad that won League 1 last season with Cove Rangers. The 27-year-old started his career in Ireland where he played for St Patrick’s Athletic and University College Dublin before heading to Scotland to spend season 2014/ 15 with Dundee United where he played in the top-flight against Kilmarnock and enjoyed a loan spell at East Fife.

Adeyemo then moved onto Watford, Valdres FK in Norway, Walton Casuals, Lewes and Wexford before joining Cove last summer where he featured in 15 games.

Balmoor manager Jim McInally said: “Ola played for us as a trialist a couple of weeks ago and did well. He is a strong and powerful player with good movement who makes good runs in-behind teams.”

“Ola did not start a lot of games for Cove last season but there is no disgrace in that when you consider the forward line that they have however Ryan Strachan was a team-mate of his there and said that he was really difficult to play against in training and did not like doing it.”

“I could see why he would say that after watching Ola the other week, and I am expecting Ola to make me play him from the start, once he gets up to full fitness as he missed some of our work when he went back home to Dublin as we discussed the deal.”

Jim added: “With everything now agreed he will be in my plans for Sunday’s game against Aberdeen. He could well be thrown in at the deep end as it will help his fitness.”

Jim is also looking to add a second body ahead of going to watch Sunday’s Premier Sports Cup opponents in action at Brechin City tonight as he explained: “One of the trialists who featured in our pre-season games has done enough to warrant a contract and I expect to get that completed fairly quickly.”
