Squad volume to be increased this weekend

Peterhead welcomed Max Gillies and Andrew McDonald back to the training pitch last night with the defensive duo in line to be included in the Blue Toon’s plans for Saturday’s game with visitors FC Edinburgh.

On-loan Queen’s Park full-back Gillies missed out last weekend against Alloa due to illness worked with the rest of the Balmoor squad for the full night as did McDonald who picked up a shin injury in the game against Falkirk on October 8.

Ryan Strachan, who made a brief appearance as a substitute against The Wasps following a hamstring issue, also trained fully and Andrew McCarthy built on the training ground work he started last week.

The decision on when to include midfielder McCarthy in competitive action again is on hold until it is known whether there has been a reaction following the ankle problem that has kept him out all season.

Robbie McGale (dislocated shoulder) and Russell McLean (knee) were again involved in running sessions however Paul Dixon is not yet ready to train fully due to a knee injury with Hamish Ritchie and Ola Adeyemo both remaining out long term.
