Last year the SPFL Trust launched a new-look Christmas initiative designed to support those who need it most at this time of year. Festive Friends – At Home which was supported by Peterhead FC delivered a total of 129 Christmas hampers.
It’s been another tough year for everyone due to the cost of living crisis, but of course, it has been especially difficult for the elderly who are at higher risk of social isolation.
We are delighted to announce that this year we can now host a Christmas lunch in the Bloo Toon Lounge for 40-50 people and also deliver up to 100 hampers for those in need in our local community.
“Festive Friends is about more than just hosting a lunch and sending out Christmas hampers; it is about delivering compassion, patience and kindness at the end of a year when it never meant more.
Peterhead FC Community Liaison Officer Nat Porter said “We were delighted when the SPFL Trust decided to continue the Festive Friends initiative. It has always been very popular and well received in the community. The fact that they are supporting both the meal and the hampers is great news”
The hampers will be delivered on Tuesday 13th December between 10am and 3pm and the lunch will be on Thursday 15th December (time to be confirmed). We are also delighted to confirm that Buchanhaven School Choir will sing Christmas carols before the meal which has always been a highlight.
We are working with partners including the local fire station, local councillor Dianne Beagrie, Aberdeenshire Council, NHS Grampian, Strachans and Peterhead Boys Club to deliver the initiative.
If you wish to put forward any names for either the meal or a hamper please get in touch with the Club on 01779 478256 or e.mail office@peterheadfc.co.uk or nat.porter@peterheadfc.co.uk.
Let’s bring a little cheer this Christmas.
