It’s good to be home

The Peterhead squad has a more local feel with several acquisitions to the team and the Blue Toon stepped up preparations for Saturday’s trip to Clyde by training at Balmoor last night. It carried a lot of positives for manager Davie Robertson but the pleasing aspect from his perspective was the intensity of the session.

He said, “The players enjoyed it, we noticed a big step-up in training from what we’ve had previously, it was a cold night and the players don’t get to Balmoor very often – unlike game day – so it was good to train at the stadium. The directors were here which was good as well”

“A lot of the time on match days, players are concentrating on the game, play the game, have a bite to eat before shooting off to wherever they come from. There’s a lot of North-East boys in the team now and it’s one of the reasons why we’re here. It’s better for us as the changing rooms in Dundee on a Thursday night are sometimes not great. It’s just good being at home and it was enjoyable for everyone, the players got food before they got home and the kit was laid out for them so it was professional for the players instead of coming prepared from their cars so it made it feel a little bit more special. It makes them more like professionals by doing that so it’s something that will continue for the foreseeable future.”
