Both Strachan and Brown know the responsibilities that lie with being at a club like Peterhead and can’t wait to lead the team tomorrow afternoon when the Blue Toon host Alloa.
They collectively spoke prior to the game and said, “It’s been a manic turnaround since we got told the news earlier in the week, everything from organisation to preparation to planning and the phone has been going all the time as well, it’s been busy and challenging but enjoyable.
“We’ve got the club at heart and we both have leadership roles within the group at the moment anyway so it was no option for us to say no when offered.
“The morale in the group is low in relation to where we are in the league table and especially after the result on Saturday. To then hear your manager getting removed from his position, it’s a difficult position for players to be in.
“We had support from the board and they came down to training on Tuesday and had a discussion with the group before we put on a light, fun session and it put a smile on their faces.
“The group responded really well. It’s been non-stop for the both of us, we can’t wait for tomorrow and hopefully the supporters come out in their numbers to back us.
“We have to put the best team on the pitch that we think can win the game and give 110%. We’ve got to lift the players and we’ve done that in training this week. The focus for us has to be on the game tomorrow and nothing else.
“It’s not like we’re hitting a reset button in a window or close-season, it’s in the business end of the season. We are going to try and get a team that’s hard to beat and get points.
“There’s several leaders within the group that will have a big part to play but it’s important that everyone in the group plays their part from the starting 11 to the players on the bench, everyone needs to show their capabilities for us to get something tomorrow.
“It’s important we’re together and we’ve been working this week on getting a reaction.”
Team News: A few are carrying knocks but no fresh injury concerns.
