Danny makes it 50
Mar 28, 2023
Danny Strachan made his 50th appearance for Peterhead in a 2-0 defeat to Alloa Athletic and the right-back is hoping it’s the first of many milestones to come for his hometown club.
Strachan has supported the club from his young days and has been a season-ticket holder at the club since he was a kid, it’s now a dream come true to be representing the club he loves and additionally, he is now looking at getting the 100 games mark now.
He said, “It’s the club I wanted to play for growing up as I supported them so to get 50 games is really a dream come true, hopefully, it’s many more to come in the long term.
“I’m hoping there’s a lot more to come and 50 is the start and hopefully this weekend is one step closer to 100, I am calm about the current situation we find ourselves in, I think it’s important that the full focus is on the final seven games which may give us a play-off to stay in the league.
“Everyone in the changing room is sticking together just now, you saw that on Saturday as there was a good feeling about the place and it felt a bit more positive despite the result.
“It’s all been quite quick for me personally, I’ve been here a while with my loan spells but hopefully another 50 will come again soon enough, it feels like I’ve been playing here for a while.
“People enjoy themselves at this club, Jason, Jordon and Ryan all have between 200-300 appearances each between them, players are sticking by the club and staying here because they’ve committed that much to the club.
“I just want to keep playing as much as possible, I’ll do my best for anyone, whether that’s Ryan and Jordon or a new manager, I’ll give my all for Peterhead.
“Being a season-ticket holder when I was younger, it was always the club I wanted to play for when I got older, I just want to keep playing as much as possible now that I am here to help the club be successful in the future.
“We now look forward to Queen Of The South on Saturday, it will be a long journey but we have to go there looking to get a positive result.”
Strachan said both Ryan Strachan and Jordon Brown have been brilliant as joint caretaker managers. He added, “They’ve asked that we give everything in terms of work rate, respect and it’s a new role for the two of them.
“They’ve been absolutely brilliant for us setting up sessions and making sure everyone is on the same page, even the team talk was good for their first one, they know what we have within the squad and they are trying to apply that to the squad to try and get results.”
