Duo pen new deal

May 2, 2023

Peterhead FC have received a huge signing boost with two fans favourites committing their futures long-term to the club on three-year contracts. Current captain Jason Brown and Blue Toon cult hero Danny Strachan have signed on the dotted line with the duo keen to reinvigorate the club after a frustrating season.

This hands a timely lift to the club with co-managers Ryan Strachan and Jordon Brown starting the building blocks for next season with ten of the current squad now under contract for season 2023-2024. Jason has been at Balmoor for the past six years and is an integral part of the playing squad, Danny has enjoyed a progressive campaign and the 20-year-old is a much-loved figure with teammates, management team and club supporters.

Jason has played 217 times for Peterhead with Danny featuring 56 times and both will be looking at getting some more appearance milestones in the next couple of years.

For Brown, he is hoping that the club reignites themselves next season to rectify the disappointment of relegation, he said, “Everyone knows the love I have for the club, it feels like it’s passed so quickly but it’s one that I’ve really enjoyed and I’ll be hoping for many more.”

“It was an easy decision for myself, you’re well looked after here at Peterhead and I feel that I owe something back to the club as well after this season, to get tied down on a longer contract is a no-brainer.”

Danny Strachan said his heart was always at the club saying, “My heart was always here and I always wanted to stay at Peterhead, hopefully we can bounce straight back up next season and that will be the aim from everyone, hopefully this is the start of exciting times for the club and we can get success along the way.”

“I am starting to grow into the team more, people that have watched us play recently can see what we’re trying to do and I am keen to play my part in that moving forward.”

For co-managers Ryan Strachan and Jordon Brown, they see this piece of business as a sign of their ambition for the club in the long-term. They said, “We are delighted with it, since the news broke last week we wanted to get our main players here at the club for the next few years, both Jason and Danny are the core when it comes to the club.

“We’re an ambitious club and we have to tie our assets down to longer-term deals, it’s a statement and two local boys who are popular with the supporters, we hope it’s the first of many and these boys fit the criteria in what we’re looking for as players.”
