Forfar Athletic                  2

Ross Forbes (21‎)

Murray MacKintosh (69)‎

Peterhead                         1

Rory McAllister (68‎)

Peterhead manager Jim McInally was not interested in hard luck stories after the Blue Toon went down 2-1 to Forfar Athletic at Station Park.

Ross Forbes sent the Loons into the lead on 21 minutes directly from a free-kick and Peterhead worked hard to equalise midway through the second half from a Rory McAllister penalty.

The Balmoor boss felt at that point that his side would go on and win the three points however within a minute Forfar were leading again when Murray MacKintosh bundled the ball in.

Aidan Smith hit the post as Peterhead chased a second equaliser however the game was to end in a 2-1 defeat.

Jim said afterwards: “My overall feeling is one of disappointment. It was a game that I felt we could win however we never got anything from it. I could dress it up and talk about periods of domination and hitting the post, but I am not interested in a hard luck story.”

“We have to look at the fact that we spoke about not conceding fouls near our box because Ross Forbes is very dangerous in those situations. We did concede and lost a goal.”

“The players deserve credit for working their way back into the game. Forfar were hungrier than us in the first half. We had a talk about that at the break and we came out and more than matched them.”

“We deserved to get level from the penalty spot and at that time I thought we would go on and win. However, within a minute we let a player get in behind us and allowed a cross to come close to our goal and that was us 2-1 down.”

“Aidan hit a post as we searched for an equaliser and I could say that we were unlucky however if you do not defend properly you lose goals and that happened twice in this game.”
