PETERHEAD 1-1 CLYDE
Att 682
Peterhead were unable to make their extra man count as Clyde coped with David Goodwillie’s first half dismissal to earn a draw at Balmoor.
Goodwillie saw red in the 28th minute for catching David Ferguson late in an aerial challenge.
The former Scotland striker scored prior to his ordering off, flashing a rising shot beyond Greg Fleming.
That was after Derek Lyle had given the Blue Toon a sixth minute lead with a superb header from Gary Fraser’s inch-perfect cross.
But following the action-packed first half hour, Peterhead were guilty of not doing enough to pressurise their numerically-disadvantaged opponents.
Visiting goalkeeper David Mitchell was rarely troubled, despite the Blue Toon finishing with a front four.
Simon Ferry was deservedly named Man of the Match, perhaps an indication of the home team’s attacking bluntness.
A draw was fair and while there was disappointment at not collecting all three, the point continues Peterhead’s steady start to League 1.
