Recap
Peterhead 2-3 Dumbarton
Peterhead threw away a two-goal lead as Dumbarton staged a comeback to pick up their first points of the season and deny the Blue Toon a maiden victory.
The first chunk of the match went to plan for the hosts, Gary Fraser giving them an early lead before Jason Brown buried a header.
But not getting to the interval two ahead proved crucial as the Sons grew in confidence and ultimately turned the match around completely.
Fraser’s contribution was the highlight for the hosts, who lost Derek Lyle and Simon Ferry to injuries.
The former Partick midfielder claimed a goal and an assist and his third minute strike was well-taken, shifting the ball on to his left foot from an Aidan Smith cross to smash a shot beyond Conor Brennan.
Fraser then tested Brennan with a superbly struck 36th minute free-kick, which was tipped over the crossbar but his delivery, from the resulting corner, was nodded in by Brown to put Peterhead firmly in control.
PJ Crossan enjoyed a fine afternoon for the visitors and he laid on the goal, which started their fightback, crossing for Ruaridh Langan to score two minutes before the break.
Crossan then bent a curling effort beyond Greg Fleming in the 69th minute after Peterhead failed to clear a corner and Jim Duffy’s team completed the turnaround with 11 minutes remaining from another dead-ball situation.
This time, Joe McKee swung in a deep free-kick and Isaac Layne rose to direct a header into the bottom corner.
