Defensive mistakes cost Peterhead dearly as East Fife left Balmoor with all three points after a 2-1 success.
The Blue Toon’s display again pleased manager Jim McInally however a lack of ruthlessness in both penalty boxes saw the Fifers prevail.
The first chance came on 15 minutes when Simon Ferry passed out wide to David Ferguson and he sent over a teasing cross that was just out of the reach of by Rory McAllister.
Scott Brown fired an effort towards the visitors goal shortly afterwards however it flashed past the post.
Balmoor was stunned on 21 minutes when East Fife took the lead after Scott Hooper was short with a headed passback to goalkeeper Greg Fleming and Danny Denholm stepped in to net.
Jack Leitch came close to equalising just four minutes later when he built on good work by McAllister and tried a cheeky back-heel with the ball just crawling past the post.
Before the break Jamie Stevenson fired across the face of the East Fife goal with Peterhead departing after the first 45 minutes behind.
Leith fired wide seven minutes into the restart and just when a head of steam was building towards grabbing an equaliser East Fife struck again with 12 minutes left.
This time Jason Brown and Fleming dithered and visiting striker Ryan Wallace picked up the ball and passed to Aaron Dunsmore who picked out Scott Agnew who forced the ball home.
Peterhead finally grabbed a goal on 84 minutes when Scott Brown lashed home from the edge of the box however there was to be no rescue act.
