Peterhead remain in second bottom Forfar’s sights after a 1-1 draw at Balmoor with Jim McInally’s side denied a win by the width of the crossbar. Steven Boyd notched his first goal for the club and almost grabbed his second after the Station Park side had levelled.
Jack Leitch had the first chance of the game however his hooked effort from the edge of the box was straight at Marc McCallum who saved easily.
The visiting Leitch, Jack’s brother Robbie, also had a chance on 20 minutes when he got in behind the home defence however Greg Fleming was equal to his effort.
Just before half-time Fleming denied Bernard Coll with Jordan Kirkpatrick firing the rebound wide.
The Blue Toon took the lead four minutes after the restart when Boyd tucked the ball away after Marc McCallum had pushed out a Jason Brown effort follwoing a long throw from Jamie Stevenson.
Peterhead went searching for a clinching second goal and Luc Bollan had a header kicked off the Forfar line before seeing another effort clutched by McCallum.
Forfar made the hosts pay for not increasing their lead on 82 minutes when Coll crossed for Doris and the former Arbroath forward looped a header away from Fleming and into the net.
To add further agony Boyd was presented with an opportunity in injury time and he cracked a shot past McCallum only to see it rattle the bar.
