Peterhead 3
Conroy (34, 51)
S Brown (88)
Stranraer 0
Peterhead returned to winning ways with a 3-0 home success over Stranraer thanks to a goal in each half from Ryan Conroy as well as a Scott Brown strike.
The Blue Toon started on top and Rory McAllister picked up Jack Leitch with a cut-back on 14 minutes however Max Currie was able to tip away the midfielder’s shot.
On 32 minutes Scott Brown’s powerful drive forced Currie into a good save however the opening goal was only delayed for two minutes.
Just when anxiety over chances not being converted into goals CONROY struck from 20 yards with a piercing shot after McAllister and Leitch had teed him up.
On 51 minutes Peterhead’s lead was doubled when McAllister ignored appeals for handball to lay off a pass to Aidan Smith who chipped the ball to the back post where CONROY bundled the ball home.
Just when it looked like Peterhead would be able to relax and enjoy the rest of the game Stranraer were given a great chance to get back into things. Smith tangled with Andy Stirling and referee Scott Lambie pointed to the spot.
Greg Fleming saved Smith’s blushes by keeping out James Hilton’s penalty and then the follow up from the same player.
The points were definitely staying at home when BROWN slipped a Jamie Stevenson pass into the far corner.
